Miel Releases Heartfelt Lyric Video for Mon Cher Petit Papa

Miel has unveiled the official lyric video for “Mon Cher Petit Papa”, a deeply moving tribute to her late father and one of the most personal songs from her newly released  EP, Loved Ones - Volume 1.

The song, whose title translates as “my beloved little daddy”, reflects the warmth, tenderness and complexity of their relationship. Childhood memories - from being taken to countless museums to experiencing moments of strictness and a fiery temper - all find their place within the lyrics, painting a portrait of love in its truest and most human form.

A personal journey through grief and music

The sudden passing of Miel’s father in 2000 was a turning point in her life, both devastating and strangely liberating. “I never got to say goodbye,” she recalls. “It made me feel how fleeting things are. But when he was gone, even though I missed him terribly, I suddenly felt more free to do things I had always dreamt of.”

This paradox of loss and freedom became one of the catalysts for Miel to find her musical voice after pursuing many other paths in life. 

Writing and recording “Mon Cher Petit Papa” was a tearful journey. “At the beginning, I could hardly get through the song with my vocal coaches,” she admits. Yet, by leaning into vulnerability, Miel was able to transform her grief into something beautiful, offering listeners an intimate glimpse into her story.

Visual storytelling with Sam Clifford

The lyric video, created by filmmaker Sam Clifford, combines tender family photographs and evocative footage from Miel’s childhood. These images echo the song’s themes of memory, absence and enduring love, creating a visual counterpart to the music that is as moving as it is personal.
