Miel performs at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
28th October 2014
Miel de Botton performed a special concert at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on Thursday 23rd October as part of Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity’s arts programme. The weekly lunchtime performance series has been running for 20 years and last year was enjoyed by 12,500 patients, visitors and staff.
Born in Switzerland and now living in England, Miel sang a selection of beloved chansons and her own sensitive, beautiful songs in both French and English. These songs are taken from her debut album ‘Magnetic’ which she recorded with award winning producer Andy Wright (Simply Red, Pavarotti, Jeff Beck, Eurythmics) and which will be released in February 2015.
Having trained as a clinical psychologist and practiced as a therapist in Paris, Miel believes in the power of music as a healing force. “Music has always given me a sense of joy and freedom and psychology taught me to connect deeply with people and turn emotion into a positive force for transformation. That is what I try to do when I sing – share human emotion, make us feel connected” she explains.“I am thrilled to have been invited to perform at the hospital and hope that my music will have a soothing, healing effect on those who hear it.”
“We’re delighted to be hosting a public performance by Miel as part of our lunchtime concert series. Her unique voice and wonderful repertoire with such beautiful French songs will be so well received by our patients. It is a pleasure to welcome someone of her standing and reputation to be a part of our programme.”Daisy Fancourt, Arts and Enterprising Health Manager, Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity.
Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity improves the experience of 360,000 patients and families visiting Chelsea and Westminster Hospital every year through:
